Biography

 

Maarten Combrink (2000), winner of the ITA Carl Fontana Competition 2021, is a Dutch jazz trombonist and composer.

 

Because of his drive to learn, his versatility and his professionalism he is developing rapidly as one of the most active trombonists in the Netherlands in a wide variety of styles. He plays regularly with the Metropole Orkest, Paradox Jazz Orchestra and the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw,  while being a regular member of the Peter Beets New Jazz Orchestra, Spinoza Orkest, Gerardo Rosales Quartet, Son Bent Braam, Harlem Lake and BvR Flamenco Big Band.

 

Maarten studied at the conservatories of Rotterdam and Amsterdam, where he recently graduated with a 9,5.
